Channel Islands – Jersey | Seymour Tower Moonwalk

Sometimes described as “moonwalks”, the Seymour Tower Walk is one to remember. Though the landscape might look barren, it is teeming with marine life and has a rich maritime history. In 2000 the area was declared a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. Explore a world that is covered up to 12 metres / 40 feet of ocean twice a day.                                                               More […]

Jersey | Taking a break at the abandoned Pontins Holiday Camp

Pontins Holiday Camp at Plémont Bay first opened in the 1920s and was occupied during the war by the Nazis. This was the first of two holiday camps acquired by Pontins in Jersey (Channel Islands). It was purchased in 1961 for £375,000 (equivalent to over £6 million in today’s money) and was completely rebuilt with all new chalets and buildings. The camp closed at the end of 2000 and was meanwhile lying abandoned and derelict, but the are will be re-wilded in the future.

Cape Verde Islands | Colourful Portraits

It’s 2006. In the Cape Verde archipelago, a former colony of the Portuguese Empire, I make my digital début. I struggle. It takes some time to get used to the weight of the camera, its functionalities, and last but not least, recharging batteries almost everyday. My only rehearsal, a 6-hour-flight. On stage: a selection of 12 portraits shot with a (back then) brand new Nikon D200.

Lanzarote & Fuerteventura | VOLCANOES

I’ve got the hots for volcanoes. And in a next life I will probably be a geologist. Follow me on a geo-field trip around the Canarian island of Lanzarote. I also island-hopped to Fuerteventura. Well, to Isla de Lobos more specifically. A little black & white gem, made of so-called hornitos and sand.
